Probably not like you described. I believe the 5th night free has to be on a 5 night reservation.

So you can do a paid 3 day reservation, followed by a 5 day award reservation. Or a paid 2 day reservation, followed by a 5 day award reservation, followed by a paid one day reservation. Or vice versa of either case described above.

But alternating paid and award nights willy-nilly over a 8 day period would not trigger the benefit.

Also received the $38 resort fee at NC by using points. They do charge a $5 “Up Charge” fee for the breakfast buffet even with Diamond status but well worth it. Lovely resort with ongoing improvements as it just opened late last year. Asked about an upgrade but due to a wedding on the wknd, they were sold out. Was offered upgrade for the last 2 nights of the stay but liked the room we were in.
