I’ve stayed in ~100 hotels in my lifetime, ranging from some questionable properties to 5-star luxury hotels.  But The Alise San Francisco is one of my all-time favorite hotels.

I was recently in San Francisco for DreamForce, Salesforce’s largest conference of the year.  While I stayed at a Holiday Inn during the week of the conference, my wife and I were invited to spend a weekend at The Alise San Francisco.

I had spent time at The Alise back in December 2016 on a paid visit and was blown away by the entire experience.  So I was happy to stay there again!  You can use flexible Chase Ultimate Rewards points to book a stay at this hotel through the Chase travel portal!

This Captivating Hotel Is Just As Beautiful on the Inside!

While this stay was complimentary (in exchange for the review), the thoughts and opinions are my own and have NOT been reviewed or approved by the hotel.

What Is the Staypineapple Brand?

The Alise San Francisco is part of the Staypineapple collection of hotels.  Staypineapple started in Seattle and has since expanded to San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Boston, Chicago, and is coming to New York City in early 2019!

They put their own spin on hospitality, and proudly boast that “corporate and stuffy have no place here.”  While other large chains tend to be stiff, Staypineapple is welcoming with their signature pineapple cupcakes, local coffee, pineapple-infused water, and daily happy hours.

Some may say this type of hotel brand is for millennials only.  But I argue this is for anyone that is bored with cookie-cutter hotels.

Here’s my review of The Alise San Francisco!

1.   Location

Located about 2 blocks from Union Square, The Alise is close to all the exciting destinations in San Francisco.  As a tourist, this is where you want to be!  You can walk to excellent shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.  And the best part is you can request one of their awesome bikes, which are complimentary!

I Didn’t Get A Chance To Ride, but They Are a Great Alternative to Getting Around The City!

2.   The Celebrity King Room

This is one of the most unique rooms I have ever stayed in, yet my favorite!  In a busy place like San Francisco, there isn’t much reason to stay in your room.  But when it is finally time to decompress, this is the way to do it!

In a cozy room for 2, there are the typical amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, a safe for your belongings, and mini-fridge.  However, some of my favorites are the unlimited in-room water bottles & coffee, the streaming feature from device to television, and last but not least – THE BED!

What makes this hotel room so unique is the mix of luxury while only having about 200 square feet!

The “Naked Experience” Is Something Every Traveler Should Experience!

The Staypineapple brand, known for their cheeky “Naked Experience” has resonated with many travelers.  Some of us have horror stories of hotel beds, but this bed really is “as cool as the other side of the pillow.”

The Naked Experience is the full experience once your hotel door closes behind you.  Comfort and relaxation is their goal for all of their guests, and they go to great lengths to ensure that happens!  The European-style bedding with double duvets makes for an incredible night of sleep, especially if the other person is a blanket hog!  To add, the “Naked Experience” doesn’t stop with the bedding.  The towels, robe, slippers (that you can take home complimentary!), and bath sheet all encompass the level of coziness every hotel should have.

3.   The Food, Drink, and Lobby

As soon as you walk into The Alise, the entire first floor is an elegant lounge area.

To the left of the entrance, there’s a great bar area to enjoy a cocktail or a meal from the Pineapple Bistro.  Many hotels try to make areas for their guests to mingle and interact, but fall short.  The Alise has made this area pleasant to relax in and meet other travelers.

Elegant, Yet Very Cozy & Enjoyable!

4.   Extra Cool Features

Many people love to travel with their dogs.  Staypineapple prides themselves in being dog-friendly!  All of their hotels welcome pets and they even provide a water bowl, treats, and a dog bed.  Now that isn’t too ‘ruff!

They have created so much loyalty among their customers, there is actually a Staypineapple store.  So you can take the Naked Experience home with you!

Bottom Line

San Francisco is a unique place.  To complement your experience, whether it be for work or pleasure, you will not find a more unique hotel experience outside of The Alise.  From the free bicycles, cozy slippers, pineapple cupcakes, and the absolute best bed in the hospitality industry, this is a must visit for any traveler.
